ITL Pre-19/20 Season Update

It’s almost time for the 2019-20 figure skating season, which means it’s officially past In The Loop’s one year anniversary! We’ve been so fortunate and proud to have accomplished so much - from joking about Stephane Lambiel having a word with us to actually interviewing him!

The team at ITL would like to thank you sincerely for all your support, comments, feedback and constructive criticism throughout the year, which has all helped us achieve these milestones. In the interests of full transparency, we’d love to share a quick update with you about what we’re aiming for this year.

New content: ITL started out with the intention of shining the spotlight on topics and perspectives that were lacking coverage in mainstream figure skating media. This season, our hope is to achieve a better balance between competition coverage and thematic episodes around the figure skating world, culture and history. We are also working towards introducing and sharing our love for more skaters, competitions, and aspects of the sport that are not in the spotlight as much. You may have noticed our Tales of the Blade history series launched during off-season - this is just one of many new initiatives we’re hoping to explore.

Help us be better: Your feedback is essential to helping us be better. We’re open to specific requests for topics to explore in TOTB or themed episodes, along with general content or miniseries ideas you’d like to see. Our official channels for inquiries, suggestions and feedback are through our email (contact@inthelopodcast.com) or Twitter DM.

Our new team: The ITL team spent a large part of the off-season restructuring our team and processes as circumstances have changed, with the goal to be more sustainable and effective. We’d like to welcome Becs and Taeri to our team and we hope you will hear them in our podcast episodes very soon. You can read about them and our roles in our updated About page. We are very open to collaborations so if you have an idea of how to be involved in an ITL episode - please reach out using our official channels.

Competitions: The ITL team are excited to be working to bring you more interviews and photographs from competitions and events we’ll be covering in person this season. We’d love to meet you, so please feel free to say hi if you see any of us!

Between all of us, we are currently planning to attend:

  • JGP Lake Placid

  • Autumn Classic International

  • Finlandia Trophy

  • Skate America

  • Skate Canada

  • Internationaux de France

  • Australian Nationals

  • US Nationals

  • Canadian Nationals

  • Four Continents Championship

  • World Championships

We’ll also be at Rock the Rink and An Evening with Champions on the ice show front.

Ko-fi: In The Loop runs purely on volunteered time and enthusiasm so every single Ko-fi donation is sincerely appreciated. We currently use funds to pay for the subscriptions needed to keep our website and recording equipment running.

Stay in touch: Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Instagram for breaking news and photography content.

See you all soon!
