ABOUT

The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating is a series of 6 competitions running through October to November, culminating in the Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in December.

The countries which typically host these events each year are the US, Canada, China, France, Russia and Japan - however, due ongoing COVID-19 restrictions in China and the ban of Russian athletes and officials due to the war in Ukraine, Finland and the United Kingdom have taken their place in hosting their respective Grand Prix events for the 22/23 season.

Skaters are invited to compete in the Grand Prix Series based off their performance at the previous seasons’ Worlds, their World Standing or Seasons Bests scores or, if they represent one of the host federations, are assigned to one of the organiser’s host spots.

Each skater or team is allowed to compete in up to, but no more than, two events in the Grand Prix Series.

Skaters earn points relative to their placements at the qualifying competitions, with the top 6 in each discipline at the conclusion of the series qualifying for the Grand Prix Final, which takes place in December alongside the Junior Grand Prix Final.
